Gems Slam Dragons In First Inning On Way To 11-4 Win



    The Quincy Gems jumped all over their guest with a four run first inning and dealt the Dupage Dragons an 11-4 drubbing Monday night at QU Stadium.

    Zach Kometani, the Gems talented catcher from Honolulu, Hawai'i, knocked in five runs with four hits including his seventh ding-dong of the season for the home team in the first inning.

    Righty starter Steven Moranda scattered three runs over six innings for the Gems to pick up the win, while Dragons starter Kyle McMillen gave up seven earned runs on eight hits in three and a third innings of work.

    Vinnie Fayard added a two-run shot in the fourth for the Gems, his second of the season.
