The St Charles Cyclones and the Columbia Falcons were arguably the best two defenses in the Alliance Football League both were only giving up seven points a game and dominating opponets offenses. The Cyclone defense did not allow a TD, the Falcons only score came when the Falcons tipped a Mike McMullen pass at the line of scrimmage and returned it for a TD. The Falcons only managed 29 yards of total offense (15 rushes -1 yards and 5-26 passing for 30 yards and 7 int) while also recording 8 turnovers and a safety. The defense was once led again by LB Jason Van Loo with 7 tackles and FS Marqueas Mclaurin with 2 interceptions. “ This defense is really starting to come together” Said Mclaurin “ With the addition of (former NAIA All American From Culver-Stockton) SS Juan Martin I don’t know how teams are going to score against us.”

The Cyclone offense was back to its old ways of dominating defenses with receivers Jason Boyd, Alex Thomas and Matt askew the Falcons did not have an answer for their size and speed. “The Falcons do have a good defense and they created some turnovers” said QB Mike McMullen “They did some things differently than what we saw on film so we tried to make some adjustments. Our timing was off a little, but that’s to be expected we haven’t had everyone there in weeks” said McMullen.

This was the first game since the Cyclones heartbreaking loss to the Nashville Storm and coach Troy Robertson was happy with the way the team responded “ We had a good week of practice and the guys really came together” Said Robertson “ They showed the heart and dedication this week that I expect from Cyclones. I don’t think we played that great offensively, but its just some timing issues that will be fixed” Said Robertson
