Knox County rallied for a pair of gut wrenching non-conference victories in Friday night action at Knox County. Scotland County came from behind and put themselves in a position to win both games in the second half. Knox County made plays down the stretch for their fourth victories of the season.

Scotland County (5-2) turned an early four point deficit to a one point half time lead in the girls contest. The Lady Tigers led by five points with five minutes to play in the game. Lorrie Peters took possession off the press and scored with 2:56 showing on the clock, leading Knox County (4-2) to a 34-29 win. Peters scored a game high 24 Knox County points.

The Lady Eagles pulled down 20 offensive rebounds according to court side stats. Scotland County defended well as usual. Knox County sank only 12 of 40 shots from the field and were 0-12 from the three point line. The Lady Eagles won despite missing five of six free throws in the last 62 seconds.

Knox County got to the free throw line effectively, sinking 12 of 24 from the charity stripe overall. The Lady Eagles made six of 14 free throws in the fourth quarter. The officials let the players play the game. Scotland County was 1-2 from the free throw line on the night. At least eight of the KCHS free throw attempts came in the final three minutes with the Lady Eagles ahead on the scoreboard.

Knox County guards did not score a field goal in the game, tallying five free throws on the night. Myra Parrish and Becca Mallett pulled down eight rebounds each for Knox County. Jamie Shaw led Scotland County with 12 points. Ashley Tague was in double figures with ten SC points. Tague had two game altering three pointers during the second quarter.

Knox County (4-2) pulled out a victory in a back and forth boys' game by a final score of 66-62. The Tigers hit the boards hard and battled back from an early four point hole to take a five point first quarter lead. The Eagles led by as many as ten points in the third quarter. Scotland County took advantage of KC missed three point attempts and tied the game at 40 at the three minute mark of quarter three.

Scotland County led by three points after Kasey Dial nailed a Tiger three with 5:20 to play in the game. Lance McMahon sank a huge Knox County home run ball with around four minutes to go. McMahon tied the game at 56 just under the two minute mark. Tristan Lonberger drove the lane and put Knox County ahead for good with 92 seconds to play in the contest.

The teams battled to the end. Harley Stone and Brandon Garnett scored clutch Tiger buckets inside the one minute mark. Knox County was equal to the challenge. Tristan Lonberger and Lance McMahon sank key free throws in the final minute.

The Tigers led 47-44 at the three quarter pole. KCHS guard Tristan Lonberger was assessed a technical foul with ten seconds to play in the quarter. Lonberger slapped the floor after a defensive no call. Scotland County sank one free throw, but missed a shot on the subsequent possession.

Kasey Dial led four Tigers in double figures with 17 points. Brandon Garnett and Kyle Shelley put in 14 points each. Harley Stone was in double figures with 12 points.. Scotland County was 2-7 from the free throw line. Knox County led 8-4 in made three pointers.

Lance McMahon came up big for Jesse Crawford's club, scoring a game high 20 points and ten points for his first varsity career double-double. Tristan Lonberger fired in 18 points. McMahon and Lonberger were a combined 8-9 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter.

Keenan Gillaspy scored 12 points with four KCHS assists. Justin Reeves scored 11 points with 12 boards.28293031
