Three Lady Midgets had two hits each, leading Putnam County (10-9, 3-2 in the Tri-Rivers Conference) to a 10-4 win over Knox County. The contest was the completion of a September 21 weather suspended game. Putnam County led 4-3 after an inning and two thirds.
Marissa Shuey and Chelsea Starrett had RBI hits for the visiting Lady Midgets in the top of the third inning. Sarah Dooley doubled leading off the KCHS fourth and scored on a wild pitch. The score stood at 6-4 after four frames. Knox County (11-4, 3-2 in the conference) left the bases loaded in their fifth inning.
Lady Midget hurler Samantha Shipley fanned two KCHS batters, ending the inning with no runs scored. Putnam County put the game away with a four run seventh inning. Samantha Shipley fanned seven Knox County batters with four walks in seven innings pitched for the win.
Katie Ryals, Kailee Sherer and Marissa Shuey had two Putnam County hits each. The Lady Midgets scored ten runs on nine hits and one error. Putnam County stranded three runners.
Knox County scored four times on eight hits and six errors, four in the first inning. None of the Putnam County runs were earned by unofficial tally. The Lady Eagles left nine runners and had two more thrown out on the base paths. Rachel Poston fanned six of her 33 batters faced with no walks.
