Anyone else following the best basketball teams in the area right now, the QU men and women?
Both teams in the Division II top 25 as of this week.
Both have fed on fairly easy early season schedules, but begin to get tested starting this weekend with the QU Men's Subway Holiday Tournament. A potential matchup with #22 Mesa State is on the docket for Sunday if both teams win Saturday.
And the women return to action after the New Year with #4 Indy @ Indy and and always dangerous Northern Kentucky team @ NKU. I believe a split in those games would be a good trip. They then return to Pepsi arena Jan. 7 for an important divisional game with Lewis.
Any thoughts?

We are a new board and I am just now getting coverage of the colleges set up... the forum for them appeared yesterday.
I have contacted the QU sports information program and haven't heard back from them yet (to be fair, it was late yesterday afternoon) to start getting all their game information. We certainly do plan on doing news and features coverage...
As far as the fans go, well... that's up to y'all.

Bad news out of QU this morning as it was announced on the morning SportCenter show that backup point guard Billy Hayes will not be returning to campus for the 2nd semester. It's really a shame because the real step forward that this team took in comparison to last season was due in large part to the improved play from the point position. The combination of Belger's defense and full year of experience and Hayes experience and very real shooting threat really had the Hawks clicking this season.
Hayes departure leaves the Hawks with limited options in spelling Belger. One would assume Mookie Pierre or Josh Edmonds will handle some ballhandling responsibilities, which is a shame as they are far more valuable assets in the off guard/small forward type roles.
Back in action tonight against Robert Morris.....Good Luck Hawks.

Anyone hear why he didn't return?

Haven't heard anything and don't think we will officially. I know he missed a game due to family obligations a few weeks back. Don't know if that has any bearing on the current situation. It's a shame, regardless, and most importantly I hope everything is okay in his world and this was something that was his decision instead of a decision that cir***stances forced upon him.
