The Illini West Chargers travel to Stillman Valley Saturday for a 2 p.m. tilt against the Cardinals of S.V with a chance to move on to Champaign on the line. Is this going to be a close back and fourth affair like last week against Wilmington or will the Chargers be able to impose their will? I say if the Chargers keep the ball off the ground and utilize the speed advantage they will win this game by 2 scores.

The Doggs early prediction. IW-41 SV- 28

I wonder if the people at Stillman Valley's fan website are as... ummm... confident as the people at Wilmington's were:

That conversation was a hoot... especially in hindsight.

Massey has Illini West winning 36-26. Of course, they had IW losing last weekend 36-34.

In all seriousness, they have been pretty darned close if you look at the season for IW. Unfortunately for us PGP Saukee fans, the whumping IW put on PGP was a lot worse than Massey predicted.

It appears Wilmington fans gave no respect or chance to IW to win that game. Fail. I doubt Stillman fans are as bad as that, their coach definitely hasn't been, he seems more scared than confident. Dry field and good football weather means Stillman have fun with Ser and company. About to start my long haul to Stillman pretty soon. Can't wait.

Just got back from the game. Stillman Valley won 21-14 in OT. Honestly, IW was about 40 points better than that team. IW came out flat and did not play like themselves throughout. They did take control in the 2nd half but it was too late. The game ended in OT when Stefan Flynn fumbled the ball out of the endzone for a touchback, not a good way to end the season. Losing 22 great seniors is going to hurt, but IW will be right back next year.

IW had their chances today, boy did they. You know what even though the Chargers came out on the losing end today these last two games have been what H.S. football is all about. Great atmospheres, great crowds, great teams and great ballgames. I can go on and on about how IW could have won today but I feel like that would be selling them short for what they have provided us fans with over the last two years. I think we all just need to take a step back and just appreciate just how awesome this run was.

Great season by the Chargers. That ending sucked though, I would have rather saw SV stop them on downs than see them fumble the game away. As they say, s*&^ happens, onto hoops.
