Highland jumped out to an 11-2 first quarter lead in the boy's game and went on to a 63-52 win over Scotland County. The Cougars doubled the score on their guests at intermission. Highland led 44-25 entering the final period. The Tigers outscored Highland 27-19 in the fourth quarter.
Brandon Garnett led Scotland County with 15 points. Harley Stone was in double figures for the Tigers with 12 points, Lindsey McDowell paced Highland with 15 points. Dallas Job and Cole Hetzler added nine Cougar points each.
Scotland County mounted a fourth quarter rally for a 43-42 victory in the girls contest. The Lady Tigers outscored Highland 18-10 in the second half. Scotland County held Highland scoreless in the final period of play. Skylar Alderton hit a Lady Tiger home run ball and center Jamie Shaw filled in the remainder of Scotland County's six point fourth quarter output. Jamie Shaw scored 13 and Skylar Alderton added 11 Scotland County points.
Amanda Hinkle and Aston Luttrull shared game scoring honors with 14 Highland points each. Both teams did a good job of limiting their opponent's usual point producers. Highland's julie Schultz and Scotland County forward Ashley Tague were held to five points each.
