What exactly do you mean by run the table? This is a shootout not a tournament.

Looks like I will be there shooting a few of these games on Saturday... I may skip Knox/Scotland Friday at home to go over and shoot Pittsfield/Highland, but not sure about that yet.
Saturday, I will probably be at the Knox and Illini West games.
PROBABLY.
If any of you all are going, I will be the guy with the camera wearing a blue Culver-Stockton hoodie or a green Mauna Kea Observatory hoodie, come right up and introduce yourself!

Photoguy, do you know anything about the Elsberry girls basketball team? I see that is who the WH girls have the final day. And man, this is one long shootout spanning 5 days.

I haven't seen them, they are pretty good but not great. They play in the EMO, which is a decent conference.
They are 4-1 this year, with their only loss a 41-40 opening day contest with a good Palmyra Panther team (3-2 CCC club) on the road at Palmyra. They beat Silex, which is a very small school (1-2 EMO-Small school), beat a not very good Montgomery County team 46-26 and a not very good Winfield team.
Last year they were 17-10.
They are a Division 3 school (which rather blows my mind, I remember when Elsberry was a dot on the map... ah, the St. Louis land creep) with an enrollment of 283 kids.
Bottom line though is that I haven't seen them play this year, or any of the teams that they have faced either.

I am surprised the Knox girls scored 10 points. Honestly.
I talked to one of them yesterday before they went to the game, she was so sore she could barely walk. This was their sixth game in seven days, and their second game within 24 hours.
The only good side of it is that the person who made up this schedule no longer works for the school district.

My question is why did Knox play two games in this shootout? Elsberry wasn't much of a test for West Hancock either. I thought they would have brought something more to the table. They only scored 5 points in the first half and 13 total for the game.

Idiocy. That's why.
The theory is that since Knox dropped out of a holiday tournament this year they would replace that with two games at the shootout. Originally, this was supposed to have been against a varsity team that backed out and the WH JV team stepped up to fill the slot... or that is what I have heard.
They played a very physical Highland team at home Monday night, played Louisiana Saturday, Scotland friday, yadda yadda yadda.
I could see them start to crack during the Louisiana day game after a night game. The Friday night game was against Knox's biggest rival, Scotland... and both the boys and girls games were emotionally and physically draining...
I haven't seen the stats, but Knox shot about 30 percent against Louisiana, 25 percent Monday against Highland and I bet they probably shot 20 percent last night.
The Knox boys had played five games in six days and were flat as a pancake as well, but only played one game in the JWCC showcase.
This Knox girls team is actually pretty good, a .600 team, but they are not an elite team by any means. Lorrie Peters is as good of a small town player as you would want. Having said that, you can grind any high school team to dust if you play them every day for a week.
