The boys third place game between Brashear and Green City at the Novinger tournament on Saturday, December 5 was never really close, despite Brashear's size advantage. The Gophers (Green City) dominated both sides of the boards and out-quicked their rivals. Green City won 63-48 despite a third quarter run by Brashear.

The lighting in the Novinger gym is HORRIBLE but I don't like to shoot basketball with a flash. For any photo buffs out there, here's the EXIF I used on these: Manual exposure, Nikon D300, 1/800, 50mm prime, f/1.8, ISO 3200, WB set to manual from 3750 to 4000 degrees.

I admit I concentrated on Brashear in this game since they are one of the teams covered by the newspaper I shoot for, The Edina Sentinel.

Here are a few of the shots I took of the game, starting for the one I submitted to this game to the Quincy Herald Whig... if they run it on their website it will be here Quincy Herald Whig Between The lens (http://www3.whig.com/whig/blogs/betweenthelens/):

Brashear Tigers junior Cody Snelling tries to push his way past Green City Gopher sophomore Brandon Pearson in the first half of Green City's 63-48 third place victory at the Novinger Tournament, held Saturday, December 5 at Novinger High School. Snelling was called for an offensive foul on the play for a pushoff. (Photo by Ken Mitchell, Edina, MO)

(OK, it didn't nail focus on this one but it was good action so here it is... when shooting a f/1.8 lens wide open you have to be SPOT on focusing)
