Garin Smith scored 16 points, leading Highland to a Clarence Cannon Conference overtime win over Centralia in February 19, 2010 boy's action. Dallas Job put in four of the Cougar extra session points in a 46-44 victory. The Panthers overcame a six point second half deficit to send the contest to an additional four minutes.
Both teams finished under the .500 mark at the free throw line. Dallas Job and Kameron Roberts were in double figures for Highland with 11 points each.
The Lady Cougars led by 20 points at intermission, powering to a 57-30 home win over Centralia. Jessica Murfin continued her hot scoring touch with a game high 21 Highland points. Aston Luttrull tossed in 19 Lady Cougar points. Highland sank 14 of 18 free throws. Chloe Armontrout and Meagan Kroeger led the Lady Panthers with seven points each.
Brashear split a pair of Tri-County Conference games with Novinger during the Tiger Homecoming festivities. The Lady Tigers (5-16, 2-4) stole the basketball 17 times and dished out 15 team assists in a 50-35 win. Freshman guard Shelby Salter led all scorers with 14 Brashear points. Stephanie Elsea had ten steals, five assists and eight Tiger points. Abby McKim scored nine BHS points. Chloe Hubbard led the Lady Wildcats with eight points.
Novinger rallied from a 53-41 third quarter deficit for a 65-50 conference win in the boy's game. Both sides paraded to the free throw line during the fourth quarter. Novinger scored all but six of their 21 final period points at the charity stripe. Brashear outscored the Wildcats 19-9 in the third period, extending a two point intermission edge.

Knox County sealed their first unbeaten Tri-Rivers Conference girls' championship since the early 1980's, possibly their first in school history with a gritty 32-29 win over Putnam County. The Lady Eagles (16-7, 7-0) won despite missing all six of their final minute free throw attempts.
Lorrie Peters sank a pair of KCHS free throws with 1:40 to play in the game, putting Knox County up 30-29. Peters grabbed a rebound and scored what proved to be the final points of the game with 55 seconds remaining. Peters blocked Samantha Shipley's three point attempt with 12 seconds remaining. Lorrie Peters, a returning second team all conference forward scored a game high 15 points with nine boards. Becca Mallett scored eight KC points with eight rebounds.
Sarah Riley led defending conference champion Putnam County (7-13, 1-5) with 12 points. The Lady Midgets defeated Knox County last season at Unionville, sealing their 2008-09 undefeated Tri-Rivers Conference girls championship.
Both sides competed hard until the final buzzer of the Putnam County at Knox County boy's contest. The Midgets remained undefeated in conference play with a 57-53 victory.
Putnam County missed numerous scoring chances in the paint. The Midgets (12-8, 6-0) shot the ball well from mid range. The Midgets grabbed a seven point lead after one period of play. Knox County (14-9, 3-4) scored nine of their first 11 points from the three point arc. The Eagles wound up with eight made three's to one for their guests.
Putnam County won the game at the free throw line, sinking 15 of 23 tries. Justin Reeves made all three of Knox County's free throws in the fourth quarter. The Eagles were 3-12 at the charity stripe on the night. Putnam County picked up at least six fourth quarter free throw tries when Knox County fouled at the end of the game. The score was even at 24 entering intermission and tied at 37 after three quarters.
