QND lost by 12 points tonight to Peoria Notre Dame in a pretty good game overall. QND hung right with them until the 3rd quarter, when they came out very flat against a zone interior defense played by the Irish. I believe the final was 58-46 or something in that area. QND only scored 3 points in the 3rd quarter, but really played well the rest of the game. Solid performance from PND and QND hung with them for the most part. Having 2 6'7" + post men just almost seems unfair :)

Angle, sounds like the Raider perimeter game wasn't hitting tonight if they packed in a zone with the big boys. Was this game game at the Pit?

The game was at the Pit....the Raiders shot the ball alright I guess with the exception of the 3rd quarter. They played man for the 1st, 2nd and 4th and the Raiders played well through that, but in the third quarter, they didn't even get many good shots off. They passed it around the zone and tried to use some back door cuts and screens but it wasn't very effective. It was a game that I thought QND would lose by 15 points anyway so it wasn't like it was a blow-out by any stretch because I felt QND played about as well as they could considering Keating was in foul trouble all night and Ufkes had difficulty with the bigs.

I actually really didn't think QND played that well tonight. When I heard that PND was the best team in Peoria this year, I expected much better. Don't get me wrong, they were a very solid team, but I was expecting them to be exceptional. I thought QND was out of psync and played completely intimidated in the paint. I actually predicted the PND 12 point win, but I thought they would have to play a lot better to get there.

Yeah, fanofthegame, I didn't mean to sound like the Raiders put forth their best effort tonight, but like you said, it was a game I thought QND would lose by about the margin they lost by. However, like you said, I also anticipated PND would play sharper than they did in the first half. QND I felt played well in the first half to be completely honest, but the second half was ugly play.

Charlie and I were both surprised at the lack of recognition the Panthers of Central got coming in to this season. After seeing them come back against the Saukees after being down 22-8 to take a 28-24 lead at half, please keep an eye on the Panthers. Wow, are they young and talented. Coach Plattner is set up to have a great run for the next 3-4 years. The Walter boy was second only to Brad Hamilton on the guard forward play last night. Also, Brad Wassell grew as a post man last night and controlled the glass. Saukees and Panthers will be in the hunt at the end. It will be fun as Western is also a keeper again and Payson is a ton with 14 players who can rotate. Liberty is going to keep imporving each game and will challenge most at the end. West Central on the east side of the Illinois river, not Biggsville will be tough. The Winchester tourney will be a great bargain for your admission price in early January.

I had to miss the QND/PND game last night but heard that QND could have easily gotten blown out. So.. safe to say i suppose that the Raiders held their own for the most part. That number 44 is good. Real good. I saw him play this summer in st. louis. At least PND is a 3A ranked opponent so a 12 pt. game can't hurt them that much.
QND gets Macomb tonight.. should be another good one.

QND leading Macomb by 20 going to the 4th quarter. Darnell has been on the bench in foul trouble most of the game for QND. Sounds like an impressive showing on the road against a solid Macomb team.

I agree with the Panthers. Their comeback showed what they are capable of. But until these kids can find ways to play more consistant, they are going to struggle to win on a regular bases. They have the talent to play with the good teams, but they have yet to show they can beat them. IT is early and they have played a tough tough schedule for only 5 games. 3-2 with playing QND at the Pit, Pfield at Pfield, and SE and SE, 3-2 is not all that bad. And a win agianst WH. Hopefully they can get some good play going the next few weeks.
As for Pfield, they dont have a ton of talent, but they have a top 5 player in Hamilton, and a slew of kids who play their role perfect which is what makes them a tough matchup. Very well coached team. Cawthon was hot early, but Walters really gave him fits in the second qtr and you didnt see much else from him.

Imagine this 2A regional in Illinois this postseason: Quincy Notre Dame, Illini West, Macomb, West Hancock, Central/Southeastern. Ouch

very possible.. but lets be honest titanfan.. wouldn't we all enjoy a great battle each night in regionals.. A regional like that would take me back to the days when QND battled Liberty each year.. or Barry even. Can't wait for this postseason.
ok then

That would be for girls and yes that would be loaded. For boys, it could be QND, IW, Macomb, WH, and Pfield. That would be no treat for anyone. But I think Pfield will go east again.

I keep forgetting that the Central boys are not co-oped with the girls. The question is is CPC a 1A or 2A school then?
I think QND and Pittsfield will get matched in a regional just south of the Hancock and McDonough county schools.

Camp Point is going to be 1A this year and looks that way for the next few years. Well until the IHSA changes something again. With more 3A private schools trimming enrollment like QND, Leo, ect. that actually helps CP stay in 1A
