QND sees Peoria Manual later this season.. should be a great match-up. They also play Illini West and Pittsfield which should help as well. QND is aggressive on Defense and can run a slick offense. I look for them to make a deep run this year in 2A. Especially after returning 2 key starters and their 1st man off the bench. QND might have one of the toughest 2A schedules around.. Scott Douglas left that 3A schedule alone.. good choice for playoff prep. Good luck Raiders!!!

I don't have a schedule in front of me, is the QND-Pittsfield game at the pit or in Saukeeland?

It is in Pittsfield this year on January 9th.

Cool, on a Saturday night... can visit the family then shoot the game!

Wow, Western beat West Central handily tonight 68-45. West Central actually lead early in the third quarter 41-39, but then went ICE cold from the floor and Western started running. The Wildcats are a lot better than I would have imagined, especially at this point in the season.

Too many memories for QND at Voshall Gym. Always love coming up there.. it always seems to stay close no matter how great either team is. Looking forward to it. And the walk in front of the student section to get some nacho's and a soda..

It is a great rivalry, although unfortunately I am old enough to remember the rivalry as Pittsfield vs. CB.

For those of you too young to remember (somebody correct me if I am wrong here, but I think this is how it was way back in in dark ages), CB (Christian Brothers) was the boy's Catholic HS in Quincy and Notre Dame was the girls school. They were merged to form the modern Notre Dame by moving the girls out of their aging and deteriorating old building and taking them to the new CB building on southside.

I was in school when CB and Nortre Dame were merged, and they kept the Notre Dame name...

I also recall that the student fans from Pittsfield were merciless in teasing those first QND boys about going to a girls school... of course, I had NOTHING to do with that... I would never have taunted a QND person, far too mature for that kind of stuff :)

I am a member of the stone age of Christian Brothers and Catholic boys. Shared many friendships from the days of Chris Curran and Dale Inman, Mark Frericks and others. One of the best competitions anywhere over the years and needs to be in all sports again someday. Nothing but win for both at the gates and in getting better. Plus, we might just recruit some of the city folks when they see how much better life is outside of that great big city of 40000. Wow, what a big place for a guy who grew up in Paloma. I also watched and broadcast both Scott Douglass and Eric Orne high school playing days. Respect both and always like to see them working with kids.

These post are a huge guess early, as they rate teams they know nothing about. What happened in the past is over, what have you done for me lately. If Quincy is that good this early after pretty average seasons, then 4A is not as good as many years. If Lincoln is the number 2 team in 3A, then Jacksonville who just took them to the wire, must be a great .500 team. Lewistown has to be a one or two team in 1A.

I would never claim anything really on preseason or middle season polls. Only when it comes time for playoffs. But its a good way to pick good games to go watch. I can tell you that in 3A Althoff and Centennial are as good as projected. PND isn't bad but very very beatable apparantly after the QND game.

ANybody know anything about this years Macomb or Peoria Manual squads???

I'm not so sure about this after Southeastern beat them in Lewistown. But I also heard Southeastern beat them last year as well and look what happened.

I hear that Quinton Hatfill is not playing because of an injury that will keep him sidelined for awhile. This really affects the team, especially early on when they were heavily depending on him to be their leader. This may be why Southeastern was able to defeat them.

It has to be. I don't think SE is that great of a team this year.
