This is going to become a weekly deal until the season is over.

Here's how it works. You list your top 10 teams. You have until 5:00 PM Tuesday to post them to this thread. My crack accounting firm (they are ON crack, that is) will then calculate from your lists the top teams, in order. Teams will have to have a minimum number of mentions to be listed (more than half, rounding up) which will only come into play on the lower end of the list, probably.

The list is limited to 3A schools and smaller, in Illinois, and the area will be everybody within the KHQA viewing range (Adams, Hancock, Pike, Brown, etc.)

One list boys and girls here, but you don't have to do both if you are not comfortable doing one of them.

Give me the following for the boys

1. Quincy Notre Dame - top team in are, hands down
2. Pittsfield - are going to take some lumps in the tournament they are in playing up in class, but I will keep them here for now.
3. Macomb - will likely move up a spot if Pittsfield can't do anything in about mentioned tournament.
4. Camp Point Central - still best 1A team in area.
5. Illini West - a second place finish and victory over WH at WH puts them here.
6. West Hancock - goes 3-1 in county tournament and claim championship, but loss to IW puts them down a notch.
7. West Central - third place finish at tournament gets them this spot.
8. Southeastern - Brunger, Bruenger, Bruenger, MVP of county tournament, but needs help from others, 3rd place finish in county tournament.
9. Liberty - nice showing in tournament gets them here.
10. Payson

5 (tie) West Hancock
5 (tie) Illini West

The people in our world famous TriStateFans.com Polling Department's Statistical Conversion Services (i.e. my wife who is going to crunch the numbers) said we can't have any ties... so ya gotta nudge one.

BOYS:

1) QND - speaks for itself

2) Macomb - Dan Watson's teams just know how to win games.

3) Pittsfield - Still don't have that "signature" win, as Duerr puts it.

4) CPC - I really like this team.

5) West Hancock - a notch above IW because of overall better performance.

6) Illini West - still haven't found the consistency that they've been looking for for 2 years.

7) West Central - one of the few area teams that I haven't seen, but they had a good showing this week.

8) Southeastern - always a threat when Bruenger is on the court.

9) Payson - overall body of work is solid.

10) Liberty - good showing this week, we'll see if it carries over.

Despite the loss to SE, I personally think that overall IW has found the consistency they've been lacking. Remember, last year even after winning the county tournament, they were a game or two under .500. This year, I believe they are 11 or 12-4.

It just puzzles me that they could be WP by 50+, and then come within an eyelash of losing to Brown County. Struggled to beat Western, lost to Southeastern, and then played well in a win at West Hancock (a team that waxed Southeastern the night before).

I think they're a much better team than last year, and more consistent, but I still don't think they have reached the plateau of dominance that everyone predicted for this group a couple of years ago.

Yeah, and part of the problem may be that when people made those predictions, they may not have realized how hard winning a 2A regional would be. As good as I think they are, there's no way I'm going to pick them to win a regional that includes Macomb and QND!

I agree. I was definitely guilty. When I saw the group coming from LaHarpe and the group coming from Carthage a few years ago, I just assumed we'd be looking at a serious post-season run or two by IW. Now I just don't see how it will ever happen......... not for this group. But I still think they should own teams like Brown County, Western, and Southeastern. No offense to those teams, but the depth and athleticism that IW has should put them leaps and bound above those teams in my opinion.

1. QND
2. Pfield-this stretch is brutal, but the competition is better than what Macomb will be playing.
3. CP-I think they are better than Macomb right now. Would love to see a rematch with Pfield and QND. Next year.
4. Macomb-Not sold on this team.
5. IW-talented deep, getting better and better.
6. WH-not as talented as some teams, but very well coached
7. Liberty-tough hard nosed team
8. WC-not sure how much they are in the area, but they are getting primed for post season, just like Coach Abell does.
9. Payson-Scary team. But all over the place......from minute to minute.
10. SE-Good starting lineup, just need some depth.

on the cusp. Western, BC, Unity.
