Here's how the small-school games turned out for those interested. I watched the 1A and 4A games, so i can provide a little analysis there. Did not watch the middle two games.
A: Dakota 41, Tuscola 27. This game really turned in the second quarter, although Tuscola did still lead 14-6 at the half. It seemed like Dakota was caught offguard by Tuscola's speed early, and fell behind early 14-O due to Tuscola's pass game. Then in the second quarter, Dakota's size took over. Dakota, a rarity for a class A team, has the biggest line average of any team in these 8 games--something like a 6' 3'', 255 pound OL average and then a 6' 3'' 23O TE/DE to go with that. Junior FB Jake Apple finished with 4 TDs and 377 yards rushing and Dakota rushed for almost 5OO yards as team.
A: Morrisson 23, Casey Westfield 14.
A: Aurora Christian 34, Mt. Carmel 7. Interesting note is that this was Aurora Christian's last game ever as the school is closing due to financial reasons at the end of the academic year. Another interesting note is that their coach is Don Beebe, of Buffalo Bill fame, for those who didn't know.
A: Rochester 42, Richmond Burton 39. Clash of styles here, similar to the 1A game. Rochester passed all over RB early and it looked like we'd have a running clock about midway through the second quarter. RB got the rushing game going, though, and the game took such a swing that it looked like Rochester's lack of defensive size would do them in. In the end, slightly more offense for Rochester as Lunt passed for 5O9 yards on 31-39 completions and as expected, Zach Grant was his leading receiver with 13 catches and well over 2OO yards receiving. RB was led by two backs, one of which went well-over 2OO and another who rushed for around 15O. There was close to 11OO total yards of offense in this game.
