Only a few more weeks and Friday night football will be upon us! How does everyone think the CCC stacks up this year? Rank, players coming back?
1)Macon: everyone back (guessing preseason ranked in the top 3). Would be surprised if they didn't go undefeated.
2)Centralia: well coached; consistently at the top year after year
3)Monroe City: many players back coming off a down year
4)Clark County: head coach left and lost their RB, still should be upper half of conference
5)South Shelby: graduated many great lineman
6)Brookfield:
7)Palmyra:
8)Mark Twain: graduated their QB and their good athlete
9)Highland: ???

I will take a stab at it
1. Centralia: Huge line if any body goes undefeated they’ve got my vote , biggest question ,they lost a lot of skill offensive players, can they win shoot out games .
2. Macon: They should be a juggernaut , but Walker as late as last week was still in a knee brace and side lined from BB. They have a lot of things going on there I feel are weighing this team down, Though they get back some exceptional weapons, they too lost some solid role players that will be hard pressed to replace. I feel their biggest challenge will be on the defensive side of the ball.
3. Brookfield: They return more, than most give them credit, they will be solid and well balanced team . As always they will be a load.
4. Clark County: Coach Q Always had control of the defense, so little change in store there. The new OC will have the hardest job replacing Smith. Several returning skill players, nice line size, Team speed should be better than the 2 previous years. But dept may become a issue in the middle of the season.
5. South Shelby : Yes they took a hit on graduation , but a solid program, of which I have the greatest respect , so in my book they are, untill some one proves their not.
6. Monroe City : this team could just as easily occupy the 4 or 5 spot on my list. But of late they just can’t seem to get the pieces to fit ,they return some excellent players , but I’m just not sure they have enough numbers to hang in with the larger schools.
7 Palmyra : Returning some players , new head coach, but I think they are still a year away from a return to the top part of any body’s list.
8 Mark Twain : I feel this team was hurt more by graduation than any team in the area, going to be a lot of new faces , filling those spaces left open, will be a big question mark.
9 .Highland: they are getting better , not sure they are there yet , but they have some excellent athletes this year.
10. Louisiana: Graduation was not friendly to them as well , and playing in the CCC will not help. But if they can stay healthy they have a chance of stealing a win from MT and Highland in the early season games.

Agree with you Cover2 on respecting the South Shelby program, but do you think they will be able to line up in the maryland I and run the ball down teams throats without their all-state lineman??? I have a feeling team's will stack the box and cause some problems. I have heard rumors as well about the Macon program with kids having a hard time staying out of trouble??? Hopefully, the kids realize their 4 years of football will go quickly and won't ruin it.

The first time I saw South Shelby last season, I thought, "That's the biggest O-line for a small school I've ever seen."
FYI, Northwest Missouri head coach Adam Dorrel has a comment or two on my blog pertaining to Shane Smith. If you're not interested in reading the whole thing, just scroll down to the bottom and you'll find what you're looking for. "MIAA Media Day II."

You are correct, they may not have the horse power to have their way running down their opponents throats. The past years of RB by committee may have diminished some, from watching them several times over the last 3 years , I feel they were more multi dimensional last year, and wouldn’t be surprised if they evolve further to match personnel. They also get the luxury of not playing Centalia again this year. Of all the opening CCC games, I like the SS vs Trenton the best.
