Spartans Move To 2-1 With Big Win Over Peoria County Hawks

The Quincy Spartans QU Stadium home opener was never close, as the men in green jumped out to an early 40-0 lead over the Peoria County Hawks and didn't look back in a 68-14 win.

For the second week in a row, the Spartans scored on offense, defense and special teams. The smothering Spartans defense forced seven turnovers in the game. Offensively, the Spartans and quarterback Toby O'Cheltree used an strong ground attack to open up passing lanes, and put up impressive scoring numbers.

Next week's game will be one of Quincy's biggest challenges of the season. The Spartans will travel to Springfield to take on the always-tough Capital City Outlaws.

The Outlaws, who are coming off their bye week, feature a dominating defense and powerful running attack. The game will be played at Knights Action Park on the western edge of Springfield at 3:00.
