Most people in the poll look only at win-loss and not the quality of the games... a lot of folks who are doing this are from northern illinois and haven't heard of QND.

If you took an area poll, it would be different.

Honestly, how many of us know how good Teutopolis or Fieldcrest or Winnebago are.... or how good Nashville, Metro-East Lutheran or Rockford Christian are?

Pittsfield is more known state wide than QND, and they have a better record (putting aside strength of schedule), so they will be ranked higher at first.

These polls mean absolutely nothing, especially the early ones.

Agreed, these polls are pointless. It's all about name recognition. QND should be in this if anyone in the area is, but I wouldn't be too worried if I was a Raiders' fan. For instance, West Central was 2nd or 3rd in the first poll of the year, and they have been beaten 4 times already. I wish they didn't even do these polls because all it does is goes to kids heads and makes them lose focus.

I don't really have a problem with Pittsfield getting attention. They are 14-1, they deserve to be recognized. I just think it is interesting that both the QND boys and girls dropped in the polls despite both of them being undefeated against 1A/2A competition.

I am shocked that QND is not a top 10 team. As all have stated it really does not matter much. But for the pollsters, Macomb beats Pfield then Canton beats Macomb, yet Canton is lower than Pfield. That kinda stumps me. By the end of the year I look for QND to be a final 10 team.
As for 1A, how is Lewistown getting a single vote at this point of the year? I look for CP to start getting some votes if they can get a few more wins next week. Anyone know who they play in the shootout up north? If they can win that game maybe they will get some northern notice.

It does seem strange that QND didn't get rated higher but I am sure that they will be because they will keep winning. Also I would have like to see the Central Panthers with more votes but I think that they will be ranked higher too in the future.

Just last weekend Macomb beat Pittsfield. Earlier this season QND beat Macomb by 26 @ Macomb. As good as Canton looked at Western Hall I would put QND as a 10 point favorite going up against them. Look for that to be a sectional game!

It can't be a sectional match-up because they are in different sectionals. Also, Canton is going to have to beat Manual to get out of the regional, sounds like we'll never see Canton vs. QND this year.

Yikes, thats too bad. Canton is a good team, as are several others who will have regional match-ups that are sectional to super sectional caliber. Where do you get the info for all of these different sectionals? Would QND meet Manual prior to state?

I don't think QND would meet Manual prior to state but I could be wrong. Those two do match up at the Pit later this month though. QND or any area team coming out of the Macomb regional will have their work cut out for them in a sectional with Decatur St. Teresa, BCC, and Pittsfield. At least those would be my guesses to advance to the sectional. I saw the BCC boys at the State Farm Classic. They are pretty solid and have a stud scorer in #44 Hayden Hoerdemann (sp?)

Agree with all the comments about the polls are worthless this time of year and voters are clueless at times. The polls on here carry a lot more weight. Too bad there are not other sites like this in other parts of the state we could link to and have more interesting commmenst exchanged. But will of of that said the January 13th game QND at Pittsfield sure looks like a don't miss for sports fans. Home court will be an advantage but still going to be close game. Next week will make my predictions of the scores.

Illini West vrs Pittsfield at the KHQA/Subway shootout, a neutral court feb 6th and the QND at home vrs Manual, Jan 23 (I think), both do not miss games!!!! Then the polls will be a lot more accurate

Illini West still perplexes me at this point in the season. They go out and finish 3rd in the rugged Macomb Western Holiday Tournament and then go play a road game at Western and almost lose. Still a lot of inconsistency from that ballclub.

Bear in mind though that last year's inconsistent IW was around .500 if not below at this point in the season while this year's team is 7-3. Still a bit inconsistent, perhaps, but I think this year's version of the Chargers is markedly better than last year's.

IHSS.com has QND ranked top 10 in almost every vote.. and thats an active and up to date poll. I'm not a fan of buying into these but credit has been less deserving for many other schools this season besides QND.

illinoishighschoolsports.com, its a great site but most of the coverage isnt from our area. I don't pay to post for that reason, but its a great source of info on teams from southern illinois.
