1.) QND - They played decently at Bloomington against some very tough competition. I'm still not sure they will lose to anyone locally
2.) Macomb - Made it to the championship game of their own tourney. Still not sold on their inside game and a team with good bigs could beat them.
3.) Pittsfield - Went 3-1 at MHT, losing only to Macomb in a game that they shot 15-26 from the FT line. If they improve on that, they are very dangerous.
4.) IW - The only reason I rate them below Pittsfield is because of the comparisson in scores vs. BC. This team could be dangerous if they get it together in the 2nd half of the season.
5.) Camp Point Central - This team could compete with any of the others on this list. They are young and will only continue to improve.
6.) BC - Nice win at Macomb over Lewistown. Very competitive with IW. Would have liked to see them be a little more competitive with Pittsfield.
7.) Southeastern - It all depends on how Bruenger does. If he is hot, they are dangerous. If he's not, they are very beatable.
8.) West Central - They beat BC badly early in the season, but I'm not sure if they have improved since then and BC has. If they can get Parker Day back, they could have a nice latter part of the season.
9.) West Hancock - If they are hot from 3pt., look out. They play good defense and are always well prepared.
10.) Liberty - They need to get better in the guard play. Murfin and Barry give them nice post presence. Kasparie will have them ready to play post-Christmas
11.) Payson - Way too up and down. IMO, they play too many people in a game. This never gives them a chance to get into a flow on the court.
12.) Western - I've said it all year. They could beat anybody and lose to anybody. It just depends on which team shows up.
13.) G/P - If they can play their hectic style and get the opponent to do it as well, they can compete. If they are forced to slow down and run an offense, they have trouble winning games.
14.) Mendon/Unity - Rating them anything but last in the area was not even an option a few years ago. Now, they are starting to believe in themselves and are winning some games.

Very good list. Half of these teams will be competing at the Brown County Regional. Should be some great competition come post-season.

It should be an interesting 2nd half and post-season. I would have to say at this point QND will win at the Macomb Regional, CPC and the BC regional and I like Pittsfield to win at Plains. Injuries, sickness, and lack of focus could all play into what happens in the 2nd half of the year.

Long season indeed, Chuck. Anything could happen and that is exactly what I love about sports.

Not a bad list but I would put WH over both SE and BC. WH beat SE rather handily both times so I am not sure how you can rate them above WH.

I would indeed put WH over SE, my mistake. However, I'm not sure I would put them above BC at this point in the season.

By the way, nice win for Pittsfield tonight over West Central. Final was 70-45 and Brad Hamilton put up 32 points. He has scored 61 in the last two games combined.

Hamilton is a stud! I was hoping he would get MVP honors at the Macomb tourney.

I think what hurt him was the fact that Pfield got 5th and with a huge blowout in round one he scored very little. From what I have heard he was probably the best player there, but hard to not give it to a Canton kid.
As for the Rankings, I think Chuck and I are about the only ones who saw this coming from CP this year. I like the list and I think I would put IW right back up there where you put them ahead of CP.
The BC regional is going to be a load this year. Right now you are looking at CP 1 BC 2 Payson 3 Lib 4 Western 5 Unity 6 and GP 7, I dont know about you but I would not want to draw anyone in round one. BCs win over Lewistown was nice but after seeing Western, SE and BC beat them, I dont think that is a great win right now. But Lewistown did this last year as well.

What is Centrals record right now? Have they only lost to QND and Pittsfield? Can't wait for the rematch between them and West Hancock towards the end of the year.

I think the BC regional will be entertaining. I don't think any first round win is guaranteed for anybody. It'll be a Mecca for good, competitive small-school ball.

You could probbably throw Brown Count, Illini West, CPC, and West Hancock in any order, right below Pittsfield. All of those teams are pretty much dead even right now.

I dont think you can put BC in there right now. I know their record is solid, but they have beat two solid teams. Lewistown who SE and Western have now beat. And North Greene who is marginal at best. Would I want to play them in regionals, heck no. But right now i think they are in a class below IW, WH and CPC right now.
AS for CP their only loses are to QND at the pit and Pfield at Voshal. I believe they are about 10-2 with wins over WH, SE 2, Western by 28, Lib by 10, Payson, Unity, Beardstown, BPCA and West Cetral Biggsville. there might be another game in there that I cant think of. I think they play SE Tuesday at SE and I will take SE beating them this time around. Actually I think SE could win by 10 or more. Just a hunch.

Brown County only lost to IW by 2 the other day. They actually probably should have won the game. That's why I would lump them in there with IW, WH, and CPC.

Ok, I kinda forgot that they gave IW a heck of a game.

just wondering.. i know no one around here likes to play at the Pit.. and QND even hates to travel to Vohsall gymnasium but do you think Central takes ND on a neutral or in Camp Point? just conversation.. i'm a huge believer in the home court.. You rarely see anyone come out of the Pit with a W.. The Pit is a tough place with the student section (mainly) and the heat and it gets very loud in there..

No. I don't think any team in this area touches QND, home or away. Keep in mind that QND won by about 25..... at Macomb!

On a side note, the QND vs. Pittsfield game has been moved to January 13 at 8:00 p.m. QND had two games scheduled for this Saturday.

Ahh let them play 2 games, may give Pittsfield a slight advantage ;)

How in the heck does a team schedule two games the same day and not change it until this late in the year. Big game like this should be a weekend that both sides look forward to. My 2 cents.

I think there is a .003% chance that CP would beat QND anywhere. I think on a nuetral floor it would be a better game, but that just means 18 instead of 30 plus.
