The Quincy University men's basketball team, boosted by their win
over #22 ranked Mesa State College last week, climbed up two spots in the NABC Poll
and are now ranked #22 in the nation.

Quincy is currently 10-0 on the season, matching their program record for most wins
to open a season, tying with the 1988-89 season. The Hawks picked up their 10th win
on Sunday with a 76-66 win at home over then ranked #22 Mesa State in the Quincy
University/Subway Holiday Tournament Championship game. Prior that the Hawks picked
up an 89-60 victory over Truman State, winning both games last week.

The Hawks are one of four Great Lakes Valley Conference teams in the national poll.
Southern Indiana is ranked #10 and is followed by #17 Kentucky Wesleyan, #20 Drury
and #22 Quincy. The Hawks are in action again on December 30th at home when they
face Robert Morris University-Springfield at 7:30 p.m.

In other QU news, Quincy University has announced the hiring of Lee Osborn as the
school's new cross country coach. Osborn will head up the re-birth of the men's and
women's programs beginning in the 2010-11 school year.

"We are please to announce that Lee Osborn has accepted the position as our new
men's and women's cross country coach. Lee has been a long time friend of QU
athletics and truly understands what it means to be a member of this particular
athletic staff," said Quincy University Athletic Director Marty Bell. "His
integrity, work ethic and experience will be critical to the successful
implementation of these two new programs and I can think of no better person to take
on this unique challenge. I feel very fortunate to have him join our staff."

"It is always nice to be able to start a new program and have the opportunity to
bring new kids in to the University," said Lee Osborn. "As a new program we are
going to be more creative and get the programs name out there and known. Quincy is
good in all of their sports so that will give us a good market to draw from."

Osborn is currently the head coach of Men's Golf at John Wood Community College and
has served as the golf coach and track coach at Mendon/Unity High School. Osborn is
a board member with Quincy University Booster Club and Little Peoples Golf
Tournament and was worked as a Executive Director of the Quincy Park District and
the Director of Parks and Recreation in Lubbock, Texas and Alton, Illinois. Osborn
earned his MPA degree from Texas Tech University and his Bachelor's degree from
Augustana College.

"We have already had a number of inquiries and starting in January we will be
contacting those in high school that have indicated interest and get more
information to other schools in Illinois and Missouri," said Osborn.

With the addition of men's and women's cross country Quincy University will sponsor
15 intercollegiate programs. The cross country teams will compete in the Great Lakes
Valley Conference and join 11 other schools in the conference that support cross
country programs.
