I know QND is the only JV team in the field on both the boys and girls side, but didnt they play for the tourney title last year on the boys side? I honestly have no idea how good any of these other teams are, I just doubt they are really the worst team in the field. Do they just automatically get the last seed so no varsity team has to say they were placed below a JV team? If that is the case I wouldnt be surprised and I cant even say I have a huge problem with it, just curious.

After watching the QND girls destroy the Pittsfield JV girls at JWCC I was thinking how good they were... It will be interesting to see how they and the boys do there. I have to keep in mind that four of Pittsfield's freshmen and sophomore girls were big minute players in the varsity matchup that followed, so they didn't play in the JV game... I have no idea if any of the QND girls that played were also varsity, but I suspect they were (sophomores and freshmen).
On the boys side, Elsberry will be a hard nut to crack for any JV team though, as will Orchard Farm.
On the girls side, Clopton is better than Scotland County and Scotland beat the QND JV last night... but you never know.
Folks, keep in mind some of these schools are VERY small.
Orchard Farm has 402 kids and Clopton has 168 kids. Elsberry is at 268 kids. Silex has 140. Louisiana has 245... etc.

Thanks for the info. I knew the schools involved were all smaller schools, but I had no idea if they had strong teams this year or not. As far as QND goes, I havent seen the girls JV play. The boys JV has some talent, but they arent nearly as deep as they were last year. I would imagine they will be competitive in their games, but the guard play is shaky.
How good are the Clopton girls this year? I know theyve had a vey strong program but I dont know much about this years squad.

After seeing what West Hancock did to Elsberry last night, I think the QND girls could be at least the #2 seed.

I agree. Clopton's administration (or whoever did the seeding) did their girls no favor putting the Clopton girls up against the QND JV (which is very good).

I just called the Radio Lady at KJMF to see about what their broadcast schedule of the Clopton Tournament looks like... once finalized, I will put it here on this thread, and you can also see it by going to the sports page on their website, which is here: KJFM Eagle 102 Sports (clicky) (http://www.kjfmeagle102.net/sports_page.html).
They have internet broadcasting as well, if you want to hear some games their archives are here: KJFM Archives (clicky) (http://www.ezstream.com/broadcasts/index.cfm?fuseaction=usrbrd&broadcasterid=53471&Org=IBN)
I am listening to the archive of the Knox vs. Louisiana girls game as I type.

First boys and feel free to correct me if i am wrong.. I think Orchard Farms has already beat Elsberry in a close game, Silex by maybe 10 and Wright City big. So yes to Number one seed. Have two kids who score a lot for them but know zero about size etc. I think that the QND JV is an unknown when the seeding was done, and to be honest a JV team from there might be on equal to the other teams in this.
As for girls. Two of the best basketball games I saw were when Clopton girls played in the shootout at QND, maybe 4 years or so ago. Two years back to back excellent games went down to last shot, including a half court shot in one. They split and was worth the money to watch them. With that said wish they seeded the teams so just in case they both win could be another barn burner. As for QND JV might depent on who plays as I see they have a freshman starting on the varsity.
Thanks again for this board might be the only place in the area to get and pass along info like this on area schools.

QND's top 2 freshman, Jordan Frericks and Kassidy Gengenbacher both start for varsity when healthy. Gengenbacher is out right now with a stress fracture. Im sure neither would play in the Clopton tourney. Sophomores Kate Genebacher and Shannon Foley also dress for the varsity and get some minutes. I would think Genenbacher at least will not play at Clopton, but I could see Foley playing. Not sure what the rest of the JV looks like as I havent gotted to see them yet.
Lost Soul, the shootout game in I believe the 04-05 season was one of if not the best girls game I have ever seen. Benkomo (sp?) for Clopton was a treat to watch and Sarah Liesen was possibly the best player in QND history. As great as that game was though, the ending was without a doubt the worst Ive ever seen. I still cant believe we were deprived of watching an overtime period in that game.

Yes Mikal Bencomo, small but mighty! Made that half court shot. Don';t recall the exact situation as time has passed but both games could have changed on calls by the officials at the end. Hate to dwell on them because of how well the 2 games were played by both teams. Mikal now plays for Maryville U which I am sure is in the Great lakes along with Quincy U.
Heard over the holidays that QND does not have a freshman girls schedule so sounds like freshman and soph will play in the Clopton tourney. If I understood right for the boys The spoh more team plus a freshman or two will play down there. Not much of a scouting report but I had a few to drink as they told me this info and I forgot the rest. Love those family/ holiday get togethers!

IMO from what I saw last night. Elsberry looked good and no doubt a good #2 seed. Their big guy was not real mobile but effective with the rest of the team. But when your ahead by over 25 some points with less than 2 minutes to go the coach need's to not complain about calls. To get a "T" when the ref was right anyway is not cool. Officials were good for all 3 games I watched last night.
Silex and Christian game went town to last shot and Silex by one. Great game, best one of the night. Both teams played well.
Orchard Farms is #1 seed and for good reason. 6-5 post player was tough when he had to be, foul trouble early. But when your reserve is 6-5 also sure is nice. Webb, #32 was a shot blocker. But the guards were the difference makers. Both small like 5-6, 5-7 but played well. Steinhoff #30 super outside shot. If Orchard Farm and Elsberry meet in finals this should be a good game to watch.
QND played them tough and were only down by 2 late in the 4th quarter. Final score was because of fouls in last minute and DON'T foul #30 the kid can flat out shoot, 3's and free throws. problem with QND only 2 kids score on regular basis. #54 Klene at 6-3 and #40 Fitch, listed at 6-0 . He made a few 3's early but drove to the hoop for the rest of his points. Lots of turn overs, bad passes and they looked like underclasmen at guard positions. But over all stayed tough.
Lets hope no snow as I want to see the girls side tonight.

Snow and cold changed my job big time past few weeks. I never did hear any results from Clopton. Anyone help?
