It looks like the IHSA has made determinations of where the local supersectional sites are this year for girls. In 2A, the supersectional site for most area teams is in Rock Island instead of Monmouth. In 1A, the supersectional site for most area teams moves from Monmouth to Jacksonville.

I wondered where these would end up being. I was hoping 2A would be in Jacksonville for my own convenience but I figured it wouldnt be. Of course Im just hoping to get an area team to the supers. QND girls are struggling with the injury bug right now. Went to watch them play Keokuk tonight and two starters (Claire Obert and Kassidy Gengenbacher) were out with injuries. Im not sure when either will be back. With those two out, it really becomes imperative for leigh mclaughlin to be on the floor at all times. The ballhandling without any of those 3 in the game is shaky at best. With 14 games looming in January QND is going to need to have everyone healthy. I honestly believe this team is as talented as last years team but the starters need time to gel together and so far with the injuries they havent gotten it. On a positive note, Karlee Gengenbacher continues to amaze me. Her game is leaps and bounds better than it was last year, and she was already really good. Her game was almost completely limited to the post the past 3 seasons, but now she is driving effectively and she completely refined her outside shot. If you dont get out on her she will knock down the jumper. Im honestly not sure how Id guard her at this point.

Titan, how is WH looking? Have they figured out their guard play? Im interested to see them in the Camp Point tourney in a couple weeks.

West Hancock is coming along. The defense is more in place at this time of year than it was last year. The concern I think just as it was at times last year is offense. They are getting their points from Marley Hall but are needing some others to step in and give them some more offense. The defense will keep them in pretty much every game but the question is will the offense score enough to beat some of the better teams when the defense may give up a few more points. The young guards are holding their own but have not seen any pressure like QND will put on them. It will be interesting to see how QND, Havana, and West Hancock are placed in the Central tournament. I believe last year that Havana and QND were in the same pool opposite from West Hancock. I think this year that West Hancock will be in the same pool with one of those two squads. In any instance, the championship game of that tournament is going to be great. I remember that championship game last year where West Hancock gave QND all they could handle and more.

I think Lady Titans will do fine at the Central Tourney . They just keep winning and usually by quite a lot.

West Hancocks defense being further along than it was last year is a scary thought. QND was really rolling before they met last year and I really didnt think WH would be able to dictate the tempo of the game, but they did a terrific job of keeping QND in a slow half court game. QNDs injury situation is going to make the Camp Point tourney interesting this year. I believe Kassidy Gengenbacher is expected back on Jan 4th vs Chatham, but I imagine her conditioning wont be great after being out with a stress fracture. Im not sure what Claire Obert's status is. Either way, if WH can handle QND's pressure Id give them a better chance to win than I would have either of the last two years. QNDs chemistry just doesnt seem to be there yet, and as always, it is nearly impossible to stop Marley Hall.
