Auburn
Michael Bates: 17-26, 358 yards, 3 TD
This seems to be the kind of stats he puts up every week.
(Chicago) Lindblom
Cody Bailey: 21 carries, 280 yards, 4 TD
DeVontay Kwanning: 8 carries, 250 yards, 3 TD
WOW, what a running game. Kwanning with a 31 yard per carry average! Bad defense?
(Chicago) Vocational
Darius Smith: 13 carries, 332 yards, 4 TD
Again, what is wrong with the defenses up there?
Elk Grove
Nick Meyer: 26-40, 278 yards. 24 carries, 134 yards, 6 TD
Couldn't come up with a way to stop this guy?
Kewanee
Dontae Pryor: 391 yards rushing, 5 TD
Again, really?
St. Joseph-Ogden
Jake Bock: 37 carries, 300 yards, 7 TD
Stack the box!

Cousins from Macomb also had a big night...5 TD's and well over 200 yards against Mon Rose. I caught part of that game on the way home from Camp Point. His last score was late in the 3rd quarter with Macomb up 42-14.

I just think it's ridculous when I see guys putting up 300 yards, let alone 200, and a handful of touchdowns. The opponents should be able to figure out that the team relies on running, and figure out how to stack the box. For instance, those two guys that combined for 29 carries, 530 yards, and 7 TDs, I mean there's got to be something the opponent can do about it. And the St Joe guy who carried the ball 37 times, blitz atleast 8 guys until they pass!

I can get you contact information for those coaches, if you'd like to give them some advice.

Well my advice is stack the box or come up with a defensive scheme to stop it, pretty basic. Now it's a different story if you just have a terrible team with kids that just aren't capable of stopping it, which I'm thinking that might be the case.

Sometimes, as all coaches can tell you, it's out of their reach. Sometimes teams can't field enough quality athletes to stop these backs..

Even Nick Saban, who like him or hate him might be the best coach in ALL of football, admitted in an interview that sometimes "Its not the plays you call; its the players you have." Or, maybe in these cases, the players you dont have.

Exactly.. thank you.. You said it much better than I could have..
Point is that a lot of times these HUGE games come against teams like Lampy Hi-Rise High and Lift for Life Academy..

I hear Lampy has a couple of really good linebackers this year... a bit older than normal HS teams, but don't disrespect em :)
